Events are hosted by the same person who runs this website. It keeps things consistent and avoids unnecessary explanations. Applications are reviewed by a small team, which helps maintain standards and stops me from staring at forms for days on end.
ABOUTTHE FOUNDER
Founded by me, Alex. I moved to London twelve years ago and, like most people who’ve lived here long enough, I did a fair amount of dating - here and abroad. London, New York, Vienna, Prague… different cities, same stories. Some of it was fun, a lot of it was strange, and all of it was useful in the end.
What pushed me to start this wasn’t one dramatic moment, just years of listening to friends’ experiences - the apps, the disappearing acts, the “almost something” situationships - and realising everyone was exhausted in roughly the same way. It felt like dating had become unnecessarily complicated when really people just want to meet others in a calm, sensible setting.
I’m married now, which gives me the benefit of seeing all of this from a slight distance. But I still remember enough of it to know what works: small groups, normal behaviour, clear expectations, and no theatrics.
Outside of all this, I’m an architect, a graphic designer, and an aspiring UX designer. At some point I also became the organiser of a WhatsApp group full of brilliant women with endless dating stories - most of them involving apps or events that sounded far more exhausting than they should be. There are plenty of dating socials out there, but none that quite matched what people kept saying they actually needed. After enough conversations, it felt like someone should create something a bit more workable.
So that’s what this is. A simple way for people to meet without chaos.
Everything here - the applications, the screening, the events - is organised by one person with a small team helping behind the scenes.
